Discovery and problem framing
Interview stakeholders, map real workflows, and turn a vague request into a clear, testable problem.
Forward deployed engineering · Online training
AI FDE School offers practical, project-based online training in forward deployed engineering: the skill of turning AI into working solutions alongside customers.
The role
A Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a software engineer who works alongside the customer to make a company's product work in the customer's real business. Instead of building only for everyone, an FDE builds the solution for someone specific, then brings what they learn back.
Builds the product for many customers.
Sets it up, customizes it, connects it to real systems and trains the users.
Uses it in real, day-to-day work.
What the FDE learns at the customer flows back to the product team.
Sit with the people doing the work. Find the real problem, which is often not the one in the brief.
Build a rough working version in days, show it, and learn from real reactions.
Connect to older systems, meet security rules, handle messy data and add human checks.
Train the users, fix what they find, and share lessons so the product improves for everyone.
Illustrative scenario: an insurance company wants faster claims handling. Not a description of a real client.
Why now
Companies are finding that building an AI model is the easier part. Getting it working inside a real organization is the hard part, and that is the FDE's work.

What you'll learn
A working outline of the topics the program is designed around. The final curriculum will be published before enrollment opens.
Interview stakeholders, map real workflows, and turn a vague request into a clear, testable problem.
Build working demos quickly with modern AI tools and APIs, and learn what to show and when.
Ground models in a customer's own data, and design agents that use tools reliably.
Connect to older software, messy data and APIs without breaking what already works.
Test AI output, protect sensitive data, add human review, and monitor systems after launch.
Run demos, manage expectations, write clear handoffs, and work with executives, IT and end users.
